Christian Web Designer Forced to Design Websites Violating Her Religious Beliefs | EWTN News Nightly

The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a new case this fall, concerning religious freedom. The case involves Lorie Smith, a web designer and owner of 303 Creative. She is a Christian with traditional views on marriage. A Colorado law forces Smith and her studio to design and publish websites that promote messages which she says violate her religious beliefs. Director of the Conscience Project, Andrea Picciotti-Bayer, joins to tell us more about this case and why it is so significant. She discusses more about Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act and how it could ultimately force Lorie Smith to create websites that go against her beliefs. Picciotti-Bayer explains what the implications are when it comes to religious freedom in Colorado and the US. There was another case out of Colorado involving a baker, Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cake Shop. The director of the Conscience Project talks to us about that case and the similarities. Picciotti-Bayer fills us in on how the court can balance essential freedoms with other civil liberties. She shares how she thinks this case will play out and what other cases she is following.
